A Letter from the Principal
Dear Friends,
I would like to welcome all school families, alumni, parishioners, and prospective students to St. Michael’s Elementary new website. We have been in operation since 1903 when Sister Pia opened the doors to this neighborhood Catholic School to educate local German Catholics. For a hundred years the school was operated under the direction of the Dominican Sister of San Jose. Our school has made many changes over the years beginning with poor German farmers moving to middle class families in the 50’s to today’s families that come from many Latin American countries and along with small African American population.
St. Michael’s is under the pastor ship of Monsignor David O’Connell who has been working in South Central for over 25 years. With our excellent staff we are providing a well-balanced program to prepare our students for Catholic high school and then college. Just as Sister Pia prepared her students for the future we are accepting the challenges of today’s world to make the next world leaders.
The community of St. Michael’s would like to invite you to visit our school and see for yourself the fine work our students and staff are accomplishing.
God bless,
Jim McMains
Principal
