Wellness Coordinator

Hello, my name is Scheri DuBon and I am delighted to be working as the Wellness Facilitator assigned to
St. Michael’s Catholic School.  My position is to support the physical, social, emotional, and mental health needs of our students and families in the school community.  I also work with teachers and staff to help improve behavior and safety concerns that may interfere with learning.  Helping children receive needed counseling, physical, visual, and dental health, are some of the services I have been able to provide. 

As an elementary teacher for 25 years, and a Health Education Adviser for teachers and curriculum training with Los Angeles Unified School District, I have a strong background of experience to share.  St. Michael’s is one of three schools for which I am responsible; Friday is usually my assigned day. The Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative from which my position is funded, looks forward to the grand opening of a Wellness Health Center at Washington Prep High School in February 2010.  The goal is to target, evaluate and provide service referrals for students and families in 20 South Los Angeles Washington Involving Neighborhood  (WIN) Schools. 

I am person sincerely interested in the well being of children and families, and look forward to continuing the building of partnerships between St. Michael’s Catholic School and community health & social service providers.
